Basic Info
Bio
The League of Humane Voters of New York City was founded in 2001 with the goal of electing humane-minded candidates to the city and state legislatures. We were the first and still are the only registered political action committee (PAC) focused on humane issues in the city.
In 2006, as we approach our fifth anniversary, we have grown to more than 6,000 members in all five boroughs!

Just some of the issues on our 2006 legislative agenda:

* A clarification of existing law related to the no-pet clause in some apartment leases ensuring that those who have lived with pets can continue to do so in the future
* A ban on the use of wild and exotic animals in circuses
* Funding for a wonderful humane education program called HEART
* A ban horse-drawn carriages
* Defending human-powered pedicabs
* Reducing the threat of stray voltage injuries and fatalities to companion animals and other animals
